Strive CEO Matt Cole said that Bitcoin (BTC) can effectively go to infinity against the US dollar, arguing that the mounting debt crisis in Washington, not the scarcity of Bitcoin itself, will ultimately break the currency’s value.
Cole made the comments on Bloomberg Crypto, as the digital asset has gained $3 trillion in market value since January. Strive, a Bitcoin treasury company that raises capital to buy and hold BTC on its balance sheet, has been one of the more aggressive buyers through the cycle.
The Debt Crisis, Not the Bitcoin Story
Cole said the 10-year Treasury yield is already north of 10% if the Federal Reserve and Treasury withdraw from the bond market.
He credited Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent with capping long-term rates now, but said the intervention only delayed the reckoning, as neither party in Washington had shown a willingness to cut spending.
“We think Bitcoin can effectively go to infinity against the dollar.”
– Matt Cole, at Bloomberg
That logic supports Strive’s public forecast of a 50% compound annual growth rate for Bitcoin until 2030, a figure Cole called conservative given the asset’s past bull market cycle, a view he first put forward when he called it a bear market last month.
This also explains why SATA Strive’s preferred stock, which pays a daily cash dividend, according to Cole, outperformed Bitcoin itself by more than 100% in 2026 even though BTC has been trading on average.
Why the Treasury Model Continues
Cole also pushed back against the idea that Bitcoin’s treasury company model is dead. He said that it never broke, only that companies without a clear thesis or clear debt terms struggled when the bear market hit, when disciplined buyers continued to accumulate even as Wall Street treasuries continued to buy.
Cole’s framing makes Bitcoin’s price action second to a bet on US fiscal dysfunction, which only pays off if bond markets and the dollar move as expected over the next few years.
