LeBron James refuted a report during Monday’s preseason broadcast between the Knicks and 76ers that the 22-time NBA All-Star made Joel Embiid “a few minutes late” during a recent Sixers practice.
During Monday’s broadcast on the MSG Network, Mike Breen relayed a story about an encounter between James and Embiid in which the former reportedly admonished the latter for his tardiness.
“I was told before the game that they were ready to practice and Joel Embiid walked out on the court a few minutes late and LeBron made him heard,” Breen said.
However, James denied the reports in a post on his Instagram Story, sharing an image of the alleged encounter and writing a hat emoji over it, seemingly indicating that the story wasn’t true.
“He’s not late, so stop lying,” James wrote.
No further details about the encounter were immediately available.
James joined the City of Brothers this offseason. This is his first season with the 76ers.
Embiid and James are no strangers to playing together, having both represented Team USA at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, but the two have never played together on the same NBA team before.
James’ transportation method to and from training has also made headlines, with the four-time NBA champion flying to and from his training base in New York via helicopter provided by Fanatics.
“The agreement we signed with Fanatics nearly three years ago includes the use of their business aviation,” a James spokesperson told Fox News. “This is a feature of many of their deals with the biggest athletes, and we appreciate their partnership as LeBron commutes between New York and Philadelphia.”
