Nathaly Ramirez murder suspect arrested day after fatal push in Bronx – NBC New York

A 31-year-old man has been arrested after hunting down the person responsible for pushing a mother to death from a 15th-floor balcony while holding her 8-month-old daughter.

The New York Police Department found Angel Carrasco late Wednesday night, hours after identifying him as the prime suspect in Natalie Ramirz’s death. Investigators say the 23-year-old mother was pushed from her balcony on Olinville Avenue in Allerton early Tuesday while holding her daughter. Both fell to the ground.

Ramirez was pronounced dead at the hospital. The baby girl was also taken there and remained in critical condition as of Wednesday. Authorities believe her mother’s body may have cushioned her fall.

Carrasco was hiding at a friend’s home when police caught up with the suspect, officials said. He faces charges of murder, attempted murder, manslaughter, attempted manslaughter and assault.

A witness who lives at the Alleville Arms apartment complex said she heard yelling in the middle of the night, and then the screams led to Ramirez’s body being discovered outside. A neighbor told NBC New York that she heard the young woman pleading with someone before jumping from the balcony with her children.

“I heard her yelling, ‘Please don’t do this. My baby. You know my baby is scared. Look at her face,'” the neighbor said. “Next thing you know, I heard her scream and then I saw something fall to the ground.”

A high school classmate from the Bronx Leadership Academy who visited the growing memorial said he remembered the young mother as a kind person. he said she

“She was always cold to everyone. She was always talking to everyone,” he said. If she saw someone having a birthday, he said Ramirez would “joke with them and brighten their day.”
