Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., said on Wednesday’s “CNN Newsroom” program that reports that Democrats were trying to recruit spoiler Dan Sullivan to try to take votes away from Sen. Dan Sullivan “are all making a mountain out of a molehill and Donald Trump is trying to overshadow what could be a huge loss for him in the Alaska election.”
Co-host Boris Sanchez asked: “new york times Reports say aides on your party’s Senate campaign committee helped recruit disruptive candidates in Alaska in an effort to split votes among Republican senators there. Both the Marie Pertola campaign and the DSCC deny this. Do you think the DSCC should conduct an internal review? And, if reports are accurate, is this an acceptable way to win a Senate seat? “
Booker responded: “Listen, do you want to trust an objective person on this? Turning to Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-AK). She said this has been decided by the Alaska Supreme Court, that the Trump Justice Department should stay out of it, that they have no standing legally. What they’re trying to do is cast doubt on the election. I’ve actually looked at the ballots to see if there’s anything confusing about it.
