San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York, who will miss most of the season, will have an easier time on his wallet after the NFL imposed penalties following York’s summer arrest for disorderly conduct and possession of criminal tools.
The league suspended York for six games and fined him $500,000 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy.
The NFL announced today that San Francisco 49ers principal owner Jed York has been suspended for six regular season games and fined $500,000 for violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy. “While the league investigates, Yorke did not participate in the 49ers’ first three regular season games and did not participate in NFL conference meetings. The three missed games will count toward his suspension and he will likely return on Tuesday, October 20.”
York also issued a statement acknowledging full responsibility for his role in his arrest on suspicion of soliciting prostitution.
“To my family, to the players, coaches and staff of the San Francisco 49ers, to our fans and partners, I am deeply sorry,” York said in the statement. “This was an inexcusable mistake and I take full responsibility. What I did did not reflect my values or the person I strive to be for my family.”
“While I fell short of the example I wanted to set for my sons, I now hope to show them the importance of admitting failure, and that even the worst moments teach us to be better.
“Leading the 49ers is an honor and one I don’t take lightly. I have to earn back your trust over time and I look forward to the work ahead.”
York will be eligible to rejoin the team in Week 7 when the 49ers take on the Falcons.
