The Los Angeles Rams have been hit hard by injuries this season, especially this week.
But they’ve received encouraging news about star edge rusher Myles Garrett, which NFL insider Ian Rapoport delivered on Friday’s episode of “The Pat McAfee Show.”
“Myles Garrett, I’m told, he’ll probably be back practicing next week,” Rapoport said.
“I believe it’s still seven to eight weeks before the injury. I think it’s still seven weeks before the injury. So. [Garrett] Might play in Week 8 … but Myles Garrett could return to practice next week, which is actually good news for the Rams,” he added.
Garrett will likely return to practice next week, but that doesn’t guarantee he’ll be available for Los Angeles’ game against the Chargers next weekend, but it’s certainly a step in the right direction.
Garrett required arthroscopic knee surgery and was placed on injured reserve following the Rams’ Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.
Los Angeles needs some good news after a crazy series of injuries.
Key defensive players Kobe Turner and Puna Ford are both out for significant time with serious injuries, Davante Adams will miss about two months with a torn hamstring, and Puka Nakua suffered a calf injury in Thursday’s practice.
Maybe this positive update on Garrett’s status can turn things around so that 2-4 Los Angeles can start to get healthier as the season goes on.
They’ll face the equally desperate Raiders on Sunday before facing the Chargers in Week 8.
