DETROIT – General Motors is set to report third-quarter earnings before the bell Tuesday.
Here’s what Wall Street expects, according to average estimates compiled by LSEG:
- Earnings per share: $3.63 adjusted approx
- result: approximately $48.70 billion
The results will mark average earnings compared to the previous year and approximately 30% increase in earnings per share. GM’s third quarter 2025 results included $48.59 billion in revenue, net income attributable to shareholders of $1.3 billion and adjusted earnings per share of $2.80.
Investors will be watching to see if GM raises its 2026 guidance and for an early indication of expectations for next year, which Wall Street expects will be tough for the US auto industry.
“While we expect in-line for 3Q26 prints slightly better, investor focus is likely to revise 2027 and we do not see the results driving up useful,” JPMorgan analyst Rajat Gupta said in an October 11 investor note.
Wall Street analysts were mixed on whether GM, which has regularly raised guidance this year, will do so Tuesday amid concerns about slowing sales and rising commodity costs.
GM raised its 2026 forecast when it reported second-quarter results to include adjusted earnings before interest and taxes between $14 billion and $16 billion, or $12 and $14 adjusted EPS. Estimates for adjusted automotive free cash flow are between $9.5 billion and $11.5 billion.
Aside from the results and guidance, investors will watch for updates on the launch of the company’s redesigned full-size pickup truck, warranty improvements and notable growth in GM software and service operations.
