The New York Giants and Washington Commanders ended Week 5 with a strange score of 27-27.
Neither team scored in overtime. Giants running back Cam Skattebo fumbled while scrambling for yardage in field goal range, Commander quarterback Jayden Daniels fell on an ill-advised scramble and timeout ran out.
While the Giants didn’t get the results they were hoping for, they did get some encouraging performances from star wide receiver Malik Nabors.
Nabors, who publicly expressed his desire for more targets earlier this week, caught 11 passes for 121 yards and one touchdown. He completed that stat line with a whopping 20 targets from quarterback Jameis Winston.
Nabors was asked about his ridiculous goal share after the game.
“I’m surprised it’s 20. [Actually] I know what it’s like 20. Lots of balls [against] Blocking the ball, trying to get the ball out quickly,” Nabors said. “Hey, I can catch the ball.”
Nabors’ performance has steadily improved since returning from an ACL injury in Week 1 last year. He had six catches for 112 yards and one touchdown on seven targets last week against the Arizona Cardinals.
Currently 3-1-1, the Giants turn their attention to their Week 6 game against the New Orleans Saints this Sunday.
