Hilary Duff’s Y2K style is what dreams are made of.
The 39-year-old former Disney Channel star channeled a nostalgic era in a new photoshoot for Monday’s issue of Paper magazine, where she sports bold, bedazzled brows.
In one joyful photo, she smiles with colorful jewelry on her eyebrows and spreads her arms in a strapless black minidress.
In another photo, her eyebrows are adorned with pink rhinestones and she wears pink floral jewelry in her hair, further embodying the millennium aesthetic.
On the magazine’s cover, the “So Yesterday” singer wore a purple lace minidress, chunky black heels and plenty of beaded bracelets.
Duff was an icon in the late ’90s and early 2000s, with her Disney Channel show “Lizzie McGuire” airing from 2001 to 2004. Thereafter, her popularity continued with more hit movies and a successful singing career.
In a Q&A with the magazine, the mother of four talked about her millennial fans bringing back the millennial style at her concerts, in part as a nod to her 2003 album Metamorphosis.
Duff said she’s happy to see some fashions come back, especially low-rise jeans.
“I don’t think I can wear skinny low-rise jeans like I used to, but I absolutely love baggy low-rise jeans,” she clarified. “I kind of love how fashion choices don’t always make sense. It has this vibe of, we don’t care, we’re cool.”
She noted that she no longer feels the need to look a certain way.
“But the pressure is gone, which is good,” she explained. “It makes me happy to see kids dressed like this because it takes me back in time, but I don’t actually want to be 17. I don’t even want to be 25.”
The “Cinderella Story” star later joked that she suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) due to how many capes she was wearing at the time.
“I have to find a shawl that doesn’t remind me of what I wore,” she quipped.
Duff is making waves on her “The Lucky Me” world tour as she brings back memories from her past. In August, she reunited with ex-boyfriend Joel Madden for a duet at a show in New York 20 years after their split, and later that month she paid tribute to another ex-boyfriend, the late Aaron Carter, at a concert in Philadelphia.
She performed while wearing a vintage T-shirt featuring Carter, whom she dated in 2000 when they were both 13.
The child stars were together on and off for three years before eventually splitting for good following their infamous love triangle with Lindsay Lohan.
