A 28-year-old woman remained seriously injured in the neck after being stabbed while running on Brooklyn’s Shore Parkway on Sunday night. The attacker remains at large and has not yet been identified.

Police identified the victim as Katie Suarez. The New York City Police Department released a photo of her and urged anyone who saw unusual activity near the running and biking trails or the nearby Beltway to help investigators.

Stabbing victim Katie Suarez remains in serious condition Sunday night, police said. Police shared her photo in hopes of getting leads to find her attacker.

The attack happened around 8 p.m. on Bath Beach near Bay 8th and 17th Streets.

“As of right now, her condition is very critical,” NYPD Detective Joseph Kenny told NBC New York and Telemundo 47 in an exclusive interview at the scene of Friday night’s attack. “Hopefully everything goes well… but her condition is still very critical,” Kenny added.

Dozens of NYPD officers have been deployed on the road, which has become an expanded crime scene. Detectives also released a photo of Suarez to the public for the first time.

Collecting crime scene film is very challenging. Police conducted searches from the air, land and sea on Sunday, with divers searching the waters and K-9 units searching for evidence on the ground.

Kenney appealed to drivers traveling on the Beltway Friday night, noting slow traffic near the site of the attack.

“Anyone who was on the Beltway on a Friday night,” he said, pointing to the area where traffic had slowed, “this worked great for us.”

Investigators want to hear from anyone who saw something unusual less than 40 feet away from the Beltway on Friday night or in recent weeks.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), or for Spanish: 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
