Rep. Haley Stevens endorses Republican candidate Mike Rogers in Michigan Senate race

Rep. Haley Stevens, D-Mich., endorsed Republican Senate candidate Mike Rogers on Sunday, a major move in the final stretch of a top battleground race that could determine which party controls the Senate.

“Hey Michigan, as you may have seen, our Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate, Abdul, said that I am no longer welcome in his campaign and that I should stay away,” Stevens said in the video.

“He’s right, which is why today I’m endorsing Mike Rogers for U.S. Senate,” she said. “I’m not part of Abdul’s campaign.”

Just days ago, Stevens said she would support Democratic candidates on Election Day, including Democratic Senate candidate Abdul-Sayed.

Rogers spokesperson Abby Ronson confirmed she made the announcement after appearing with Rogers at a Detroit church.

“Mike welcomed her,” Rosen told NBC News.

Stevens’ criticism of El-Sayed and his appearance with Rogers on Sunday angered El-Sayed’s Democratic allies, who responded over the weekend to Stevens’ criticism of the party’s candidate during a critical window before Election Day.
