Texas star publicly apologizes for vulgar celebration against Tennessee

Texas Longhorns guard Colin Simmons discovered you can’t simulate urinating on another person during Saturday’s game against the Tennessee Volunteers.

It’s safe to say he probably already knew that, but that didn’t stop him from doing it in front of 100,000 people at Neyland Stadium.

Simmons simulated the move in the direction of Tennessee quarterback Fayzon Brandon after he was sacked in the first half of the club’s eventual victory. The Longhorns were (apparently) penalized for this behavior, which the referee described as “a simulated use of the restroom.”

After the game, Simmons continued to apologize at the post-game press conference and on social media.

“All glory to God, thank you for hearing my prayers and forgiving my actions. #5piece,” Simmons wrote on the X.

“I do want to say that I apologize for this celebration,” Simmons said during a media conference. “I’m definitely in that mode, feeling myself. But, you know, it happens. Bring it into the game.”

Unfortunately, his afternoon will be defined by celebrations, as he also happened to tie a school record with five sacks on Saturday.

“We took him out, we worked it out and we put him back,” Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian said. “I mean, at that point, I’m not going to sentence this guy to death for unsportsmanlike conduct, right. But we have to address this, right? As we move forward, this can’t continue.”

“So when I talk about the team in the locker room, we’re going to address that on Monday and what it looks like and how to manage our emotions… The best thing you can do is celebrate with your teammates.”

Top-ranked Texas will await word on potential penalties as they prepare for a Red River rivalry game with Oklahoma State.
