The Tees Valley Combined Authority works to help businesses develop their workforce and skills support
We know that some of the best places to work – and the most successful companies – are those that care about, and invest in, the workforce of the region.
Tees Valley Combined Authority sponsored the Best Place to Work category at the North East Business Awards earlier this month – and we’re giving local companies a great opportunity to show how they want to make a difference.
We have some great programs to help businesses develop their workforce and skills support, and we encourage all employers to take advantage to make our region a better place to work and do business.
Applications are now open for the second year of the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer, funded by the British Government, after a pilot that attracted the interest of more than 1,700 people aged 18 to 21. It provides high-quality support to young people who are not in education, employment and training, helping them build experience, confidence and a path to lasting employment.
They can also be offered up to five months of paid work experience with local employers. For employers, wages for work placements are fully funded to keep financial costs for businesses as low as possible, as well as more targeted support to help you get a placement.
TVCA can also help companies develop opportunities to hire apprentices, with our team on hand to help you get started and let you know what incentive payments you can receive for hiring a particular apprentice.
Our Apprenticeship Levy Matching service can match levy payers who want to transfer unused funds with other local employers looking for an apprenticeship, providing further support to equip the next generation with the skills they need to succeed in the industry.
TVCA’s own Adult Skills Fund offers flexible, funded training to develop the workforce – supporting recruitment, development and retention designed around real business needs. We work with employers to develop the expertise businesses need now and in the future.
And Connect to Work helps employers support employees with health conditions, disabilities or other barriers to work, helping to build a stronger and more inclusive workforce. We have employment specialists who work with local residents aged 18+ to find and help you find meaningful employment, and can connect you to your industry.
So if you have a gap in your workforce, or want to take your existing staff to the next level, get in touch.
