The ditch is replacing Relish in Kings Park with a third LI restaurant

Ditch is expanding its Long Island presence by opening a third restaurant in Kings Park, occupying the former Relish diner site. This move supports the ongoing revitalization of the Kings Park downtown area, which is also seeing the development of new housing and other food businesses.

The blueprint:
  • The ditch takes over the former Relish building at 2 Pulaski Road
  • The Kings Park location is the third Long Island restaurant for Ditch
  • Ditch’s menu features Mexican and American fare including tacos
  • The revitalization of Kings Park includes new restaurants and apartments

Ditch, a taco and tequila restaurant with a beachy vibe, is opening a new location in downtown Kings Park.

Ditch takes over a 2,500-square-foot freestanding building on .36 acres at 2 Pulaski Road. The property was previously occupied by Relish, a diner-style restaurant that closed in January.

The Kings Park Ditch will be the chain’s third Long Island location, after others at 25 Bayview Ave in Bay Shore and 140 Main St in Port Jefferson.

The menu at Ditch features a wide variety of Mexican-style and American fare, including tacos, quesadillas, shareable appetizers, bowls, steak, burgers, fish and chips and more.

The Kings Park Ditch is expected to open in early November, according to the chain’s Instagram post.

Ditch owner Tracy Smith said he had a deal in place to take over the Relish venue in 2024, but it didn’t work out. However, it just took a little longer than expected.

“I’m really excited to finally be part of the Kings Park community. It’s going to be amazing,” Smith said in the post. “We can’t wait to bring this to the Kings Park community and add more Ditch locations and most likely become our flagship location.”

Ditch is the second new food business to come to Kings Park recently, following Heritage Bagel Cafe and Deli which opened earlier this month in a 3,130-square-foot building at 85 Main St. station. Cornerstone Kings Park is scheduled to open November 1.

“People are really starting to notice that Kings Park is a place to invest in,” Tony Tanzi, president of Kings Park Chamber of Commerce and partner in Cornerstone Kings Park, told LIBN. “We’re glad an operator like Ditch chose to come here.”
