Nolte: Text appears to show Cornell gang-rape victim not incapacitated

According to Jane Doe, a woman who claims she was gang-raped by seven members of Cornell University’s Chi Phi fraternity in the early morning hours of October 20, 2024, the men gave her drugs and alcohol until she was incapacitated, unaware they were raping her.

However, all the contemporaneous evidence we have seen so far suggests that a 20-year-old woman showed up at a fraternity house after a few drinks, agreed to a threesome, and then agreed to engage in hours of group sex that she later described (approvingly) in an article as a gang rape.

About two weeks later, as news of the incident spread across campus and she felt humiliated, Jane Doe gave a statement to campus police in which she still agreed that everything that happened to her that night was consensual, including drinking and using illegal drugs.

Just two years later, just weeks before the midterm elections, Jane Doe spoke out about rape through a high-profile civil lawsuit, alleging that seven Chippie fraternity brothers (now known as the Cornell Seven) drugged her into oblivion so they could gang-rape her.

Subsequently, various reports claimed text messages written by Jane Doe in the days or weeks after the incident suggested the exact opposite, and on Tuesday, a text message was released that, if indeed it was hers, cast doubt on her claims of being incapacitated by drugs.

According to the timestamp, the text message was written by Jane Doe around the same time she claims she was incapacitated and raped.

At 3:05 a.m. on October 20, 2024, one of Jane Doe’s sorority sisters texted: “Are you home?”

Jane Doe responded “I don’t know.”

Translation of text challenge…

Are you going home tonight?

I have no idea.

I would go a step further and say, 1) Jane Doe did not claim in the civil lawsuit that her alleged rapist took her phone, 2) or that one of her alleged rapists used her phone to send text messages, so 3) what kind of rapist allows a victim to hold her phone and send text messages during a rape?

New York Governor Kathy Hochul appointed the state’s disgraced Attorney General Letitia James as a special prosecutor in the case. As everyone knows. Big Tish could spin a criminal indictment out of nonsense like Donald Trump repaying his loan with interest. This Cornell 7 case, though… I don’t know. Maybe Letitia James can bury these guys under the prison yard. Perhaps there will be more evidence. perhaps. But as we now know, the rape allegation was nothing more than a hoax, almost certainly a political hoax staged to disrupt the midterm elections.
