Craig Melvin’s Halloween got off to a pretty scary start.
“Today” co-anchor Martha Stewart was scolded for spilling chocolate ganache on Martha Stewart’s white pants during Friday’s show.
Stewart appeared on a Halloween special celebrating NBC’s 100th anniversary and shared her favorite holiday recipes, including how to make spider webs on cheesecake.
“Someone forgot the chocolate ganache,” Stewart said as he prepared to decorate the cheesecake.
Melvin, who is dressing up as the TV personality’s friend Snoop Dogg at the 2024 Olympics, quickly grabbed a piping bag of ganache for her but accidentally spilled some of it onto her white pants first.
“Ah!” Stewart said, the words splashing over her, and Melvin’s mouth dropped open in disbelief.
His co-hosts Savannah Guthrie and Carson Daly, who dressed up as NBC Home and singer Ella Langley respectively, were also shocked.
“Snoopy!” snapped Stewart, who was competing in the Olympics wearing a white American flag sweater. “The real Snoopy would never do that!”
Melvin then moved to the other side of the table, away from Stewart and closer to Daly, and then back.
All was not lost between the two, however, as she had a laugh before starting to decorate the cheesecake.
“Let’s do this very carefully,” she said, adding that the chocolate ganache was “so sloppy” and she had “never seen anything like it.”
“My hot chocolate legs are burnt,” the family mogul added as he spread the ganache on the cheesecake.
It’s not the first time Melvin has had an awkward moment on air this week.
His interview with Parker Posey on Monday led to not one, but two humbling moments.
When the White Lotus star was asked about her upcoming projects, including a rumored horror movie role, she mistook the word “horror” for “whore.”
“I thought you called me a whore!” Percy responded.
“I didn’t call you a whore!” he insisted. “Oops – oops, I didn’t make it clear.”
Posey then said she was “sweating” and started fanning herself with a stack of papers, while revealing she was actually no longer involved in the horror film.
“I was [doing] she explained. “Yeah, that doesn’t happen anymore. Something happened.”
Posey is rumored to star in Blumhouse’s Atomic Monsters and Universal Pictures’ Sleepover next year.
After Posey shot down the rumors, Melvin admitted the interview took a “more awkward than usual” turn.
However, things ended well, with Percy telling Melvin that the awkward interview was “fun.”
