In a Columbus Day message, President Donald Trump said the “era of looting” by radical left-wing Democrats, socialists and communists who tore down statues of Christopher Columbus was “over.”
On Sunday, Trump released his Columbus Day message a day early in an article published on Truth Social. Trump said in the post that Columbus Day is “an important day for our great Italian-American community.”
“Happy Columbus Day to everyone, especially our great Italian-American community, who have been forced to suffer as radical left-wing democrats, socialists and communists rampaged through our towns and cities, tearing down nearly every beautiful statue of Christopher Columbus,” Trump said. “Well, those days of looting are over and the statues are back, grander than before.”
“This is a big day, maybe the biggest day, for our great Italian-American community and for Italy itself,” Trump added.
On Friday, Trump spoke of how “radical left-wing communists hate Columbus” and accused Democratic Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdulrahman Mohamed Said of wanting to “abolish Columbus Day.”
“As you know, the radical left-wing communists hate Columbus and they want to abolish Columbus Day,” Trump said. “They’re still working very hard.”
Trump continued, “You know this guy, I call him Mohamed Fayed. Some people call him Abdul. I call him Mohamed. Some people say, ‘Why?’ I say, ‘I don’t know. I feel like it. But he wants to abolish Columbus Day… Can you believe it?’
