President Donald Trump continued his long-running attacks on Somalis on Thursday, urging Minnesotans to “fight back” against the state’s Somali community.
“The once-great state of Minnesota is being taken over by Somali immigrants,” Trump wrote on The Truth Society. “The people of Minnesota must fight back.”
He added: “Somali people should not be allowed to get away with it. They think you are weak and stupid. Fight back Minnesotans, fight back! The federal government will come to your rescue if you need it.”
The White House did not immediately respond to a query about how Trump wants Minnesotans to “fight back.”
Minnesota has the largest Somali population in the United States
Trump has repeatedly attacked Somalis during his time in office, as well as Rep. Ilhan Omar, who was born in Somalia.
Trump’s rhetoric against Somalis in Minnesota intensified after reports last year that dozens of Somalis had been convicted in fraud schemes. Trump has since called Somalis “liars” and called Somalia “dirty, dirty, disgusting, filthy.”
