A day after a 15-year-old boy was shot to death in his Bronx home, the NYPD is still hunting at least two suspects, with the grieving teen’s father claiming school bullies may have been one of them.
Javits Frimpong was shot in the abdomen and died Thursday morning near East 171st Street and Third Avenue, less than a block from Crotona Park.
Shocking CCTV footage from the Claremont community shows a teenager running for his life as another man dressed in black chases him. Another man stopped and turned around, and a short time later the victim could be seen lying in the distance.
The boy’s father, Thomas Frimpong, said his son complained to school officials that a classmate was bullying him. He believes the shooting was retaliation for the report, which Thomas Frimpong said resulted in the suspension of two students.
He said Javits’ principal was the one who told him about the shooting.
“The school can attest that my son is always quiet. Always,” Frimpong said, adding that his son goes to school every day.
Police said they were looking for at least two gunmen who allegedly fled the scene.
