San Francisco 49ers linebacker Kyle Juszczyk suffered a horrific knee injury during Sunday’s 24-14 win over the Denver Broncos.
Juszczyk caught a pass from Brock Purdy and was tackled with a knee by Broncos cornerback Ja’Dei Barron. After the impact, Juszczyk’s right knee hyperextended backwards, giving him what appeared to be a gruesome injury.
Juszczyk took a break and then was helped off the field by 49ers coaches.
Whenever a knee injury occurs, the most immediate concern is a torn cruciate ligament, which usually takes about a year to recover from.
49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media after Sunday’s win and gave a positive update on Juszczyk’s status.
“Juice, I mean, we don’t know for sure. They think it could be a knee sprain. His ACL and stuff look intact. But to know for sure, we have to know tomorrow,” Shanahan said.

Even if Juszczyk does need to miss some time, San Francisco appears to have ruled out a torn ACL, which is good news.
49ers fans will have to wait until Monday for a clearer update on Juszczyk’s status. But at the same time, they can rest easy knowing that an ACL injury is clearly out of the question.
