In 1983, theme park giant Tokyo Disneyland first entered Asia with 20 attractions, many of which were the most iconic rides in California and Florida parks: “Space Mountain,” “The Haunted Mansion,” “Jungle Cruise” and “Peter Pan’s Flight.”
The latter, part of the original attraction lineup at the first Disneyland in Anaheim in 1955, is a dark ride where guests board a pirate ship suspended on an elevated track and travel between different light scenes of London at night and characters like Wendy, Michael, Captain Hook and the namesake from the classic 1953 Disney animated film.
On Tokyo Disneyland’s ride webpage, the ride is currently listed as being closed from January 6 to February 2, 2027. The resort has not yet detailed the reason for its months-long closure, but considering it has been part of the park for 43 years, it is likely related to regular maintenance and repairs.
“Now you can board a two-person flying pirate ship and sail from London to Neverland! Embark on the adventure of your dreams,” Tokyo Disneyland writes in the ride’s description on its website.
In early October, the “Dumbo” carousel in the same Fantasyland area of the park reopened after renovations after being closed to riders for most of 2026. Changes include a modernized entrance marquee and a new bright blue color scheme for the handrails connecting the elephant carriages.

The fantasy world undergoes an even bigger transformation in 2020 with the addition of the new “A Magical Story of Beauty and the Beast” Dark Ride.
The Jungle Cruise: Safari ride in the Adventure World portion of the park is expected to remain closed for an extended period of time, until April 2027. Due to the lengthy closure, rumors have intensified that the ride and others in the section may be closed permanently.

Which other rides at Tokyo Disneyland will close in 2027
The “2035 Long-term Management Strategy” released by Tokyo Disney Resort operator Oriental Land Company shows that the entire Adventure World section has been redesigned, with classic rides such as “Jungle Cruise”, “West River Railroad” and “Enchanted Tiki Room” as inspiration, replaced by more modern movie attractions such as “Up” and “Moana”.
