Artificial intelligence giant Anthropic remains unclear on whether the company will consider giving shares pledged to a public benefit fund directly to Americans.
The company announced on Sunday that it plans to give 5% of its shares to the new Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, which can support non-profit donations or direct distribution to specific populations.
“We do part of the Anthropic shares to the Anthropic Public Benefit Fund, a new entity that is entirely dedicated to the public benefit. It will start with 5% of our shares. For every 50% increase in the value of the company over the set baseline, we can contribute up to 2% extra, subject to a total of 0% of our space. Anthropic shares are committed to the public good,” said Anthropic in a Sunday post on X.

Fox News Digital asked Anthropic whether it wants to distribute its stock to American children or families. The company did not respond to multiple requests for comment on Monday.
In response to Anthropic’s announcement of funding in X, Elon Musk urged the AI company to take a more direct route.
“I recommend giving shares directly to the public,” Musk wrote on X.
