Drake Maye credits Patriots O-line game against Jets for wife’s baked ‘treat’

To paraphrase an old “Seinfeld” episode, maybe everyone needs to “look at the cookies” to explain why the Patriots’ offensive line allowed zero sacks in New England’s win over the Jets on Sunday.

Even though Green is one of the best defenses in the league, with 19 sacks this season, tied for third in the NFL, the Patriots’ offensive line has kept the Jets at bay.

So what’s the secret to Sunday? Well, according to Patriots quarterback Derek Meyer, these are the cookies his wife baked for the team.

“I said, ‘I gotta bring more snacks,’ Ann Michael yelled,” Meyer told reporters after the game, laughing. “Got to keep bringing in more good food. Those guys are doing a hard job out there.”

Meyer helped the Patriots reach the Super Bowl last season, and his wife quickly rose to stardom.

Ann Michael rose to social media fame and fans during Bake Off with her viral baking videos on TikTok.

Last season, Maye also said in an interview with WEEI that during “Bakemas”, he tried to bring leftovers for his teammates.

“It’s awesome,” Meyer said on Boston Sports Talk Radio in December. “[She’s] On her little journey now doing “Bakemas”.

“I try my best to try everything she bakes. I try to bring some leftovers into the building.”

It seems he has been doing this ever since, and it has paid off.

The Jets sacked Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson eight times last week.

In addition to the cookies, Meyer also praised the work the tight ends and coaching staff have done.

“These guys are fighting hard. They’re fighting hard and it’s going through them,” Meyer said. “The last rush, [I] Have the best seat in the house. It’s great to see and I think the more we can do that, the more we can come together offensively and rely on that. “
