News anchor walking on the air
Fox’s Dana Perino may be Fox’s prettiest anchor. Probably the savviest too.
A few years ago, two strangers – the last to board a plane – “we were the last passengers on board” on a long flight. Big talk.
Peter McMahon has been married before. They spoke. Today, they have been married for 28 years and are still happily married.
Dana: “The dating scene in Washington is frustrating. He knows the history. He’s smart. It’s exciting.”
Her birthplace is Wyoming—wherever that may be. Schooling-University of Southern Colorado. Job – Waitress. Side job: Host of the campus TV show “Congress Daily.”
As a child, she read the Denver Post and the Rocky Mountain News. She said, “My sister told me, ‘You can do anything you want. Just figure it out.'” From then on, I had to pick out two articles before dinner.
“I wanted to be in the news,” she said. That jumps ahead to meeting Karl Rove. That jumps over to riding the Marine One helicopter. “I was nervous. I thought if I went to Washington, I would never work in television,” she said. The ride met then-President George Bush.
Dana scored “Five”
It all unfolded while the “Five” co-hosts were sitting in my home library during their lunch break. She said over a tuna sandwich: “Peter traveled. I didn’t. So we lived in his birthplace in England for a year. I was bored, so we moved.”
“Then came 9/11. We lived in San Diego. I was at a standstill. Working at a public relations firm. My friends in Washington at the Department of Justice who worked for George W. Bush asked me if I could go back to work there. My husband handled medical equipment and worked from home, then drove across the country with our dog to be with me.”
Is it time to relax?
“We go out one night a week. Look, I was born in a Lutheran, small town. I’m not a politician. I can’t contribute anything financially. I’m just a bookish guy living on a ranch who’s worried about the future. Worried that I’m going to meet someone. And then there’s indoctrination and left-wing ideology. I think big intrusive, oppressive government is corrupt.
under pressure
“Then, while working as press secretary to the president, bad news came about him. Professionals told me, ‘It’s OK. Don’t bring it up. Don’t worry about it.’ I communicated it poorly. It went away, but it took about four weeks.
“What I want is elegance. What I want is to be an optimist, but I’m also a pragmatist.”

Angelo Vivolo, president of the Columbus Heritage Alliance, said of tomorrow’s parade: “This year we have 107 different groups of participants – floats, students, bands. Approximately 35,000 people marching down Fifth Avenue.
“This was a Mass celebrated by Cardinal Dolan in St. Patrick’s Church and then televised for three hours.
“The Italians came here in the 1890s. In the 1950s, a group of Italian-Americans purchased a building on East 69th called the Columbus Civic Foundation, and they commemorated a different Italian-American every year.”
So, Angelo, can you still participate in that long march?
“Not sure. I guess I can’t drag it all the way from 46th Street to 69th Street anymore.”
No one is complaining, get it, but gas prices are so high now that a driver has to stay and wash the windows to pay for the last two gallons.
Definitely in New York, kids, definitely in New York.
