Tennis champion Sir Andy Murray and his wife Kim are to appear in a new series documenting the “ambitious” renovation of a luxury Scottish hotel.

The couple have operated Hotel Cromlix, a five-star Victorian country house hotel near Dunblane, Scotland, for more than a decade since purchasing it in 2013.

The new Channel 4 series, Our Scottish Hotel, will give a behind-the-scenes look as the couple and their 80-strong workforce carry out significant development at the property.

The three-part series chronicles the year-long transformation as construction begins on an expansive new wing featuring two additional restaurants.

The hotel is close to where Sir Andy, 39, was brought up and has special meaning for the couple, who married there in 2015.

Kim, 38, described as the creative driving force behind the company according to the hotel’s website, said the venture was a “learning curve” and marked the first time the pair had collaborated professionally.

He said: “The last couple of years have seen a lot of change at Cromlix with major building projects and a new direction for dining and wellbeing, and I’m keen to document it as there have been many personal stories and interesting discoveries along the way.

“Andy and I had never worked on anything before, so it was an amazing process – and a learning curve!

“I have loved shaping this building and estate into what is now a really thriving and much-loved Scottish business. I hope people enjoy watching the show and meeting the team behind the hotel.”

Emily Shields, commissioning editor for Channel 4, described the series as a “rare glimpse” into a business where “no detail is overlooked”.

He said: “Kim and Andy embarked on an ambitious transformation, but at heart this is a story about people: the hard-working team that brought Cromlix to life, and their shared desire to create something special.

“We are delighted to bring viewers this warm, intimate and open look at life behind the doors of one of Scotland’s most exclusive hotels.”
