President Trump brazenly revealed on Monday that he looked at Ohio Republican Sen. Jon Husted’s back after learning he was a star college football player.
The president explained at a rally in Ohio that he was surprised when he learned about Husted’s “athletic talent” at the University of Dayton, but after he took a closer look at the mild-mannered senator’s body, he realized it must be true.
“I don’t do that to men very often. I started checking him out because I didn’t know he was a great athlete,” Trump told the Youngstown rally crowd. “I looked up and down.
“I looked at his ass, I looked at the whole—”
The quip drew laughter from the crowd.
Trump continued, “And I looked at his hands. Look at his hands. He had these, like claws. I get it… You’re a great athlete.”
“I didn’t know that because he didn’t talk about it,” the president added.
He also said Husted’s poll numbers have improved now that Buckeye State voters know he was an All-American defensive back for the 1989 Division III champion Dayton Flyers.
“I just hit him in the back and my hand hurt a little bit,” Trump joked after bringing Husted on stage to speak. “He was like a piece of steel.”
Husted is running against former Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio), whom the president has called “the candidate of Marxists, communists and anti-American radicals who want to destroy America’s heritage.”
“He’s got the worst border we’ve ever had here. The economy and everything else is terrible. He’s coming here at a very dark time in our country,” Trump said of Brown.
The president further warned that Ohio would be “destroyed like Minnesota” if Democrats took power.
“If you want to stop Ohio from being pillaged, looted, and destroyed like Minnesota was destroyed… If you want to stop it before it starts, vote for Jon Husted and vote for [GOP gubernatorial candidate] Vivek Ramaswamy,” Trump declared.
The president said “Democrats want to burn it all down” and urged voters not to put Brown “back in power.”
Super Bowl-winning NFL coach Jon Gruden and boxer and influencer Jake Paul flew with Trump on Air Force One from Washington to Youngstown.
Gruden, a native of Sandusky, Ohio, and a college teammate of Husted’s, introduced Trump at the rally.
“To maximize our true potential, we have to believe in our leadership and we have to work together,” said the former Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Las Vegas Raiders head coach. “If we can get this group elected, better days are ahead.”
Paul, who grew up in Cleveland, warned that Democrats are running “evil” candidates who are “willing to do anything to destroy us.”
“We have to protect this state,” the YouTuber-turned-boxer said.
Senate Majority Whip John Barrasso (R-Wyo.), Sen. Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) and embattled Rep. Max Miller (R-Ohio) also attended.
Miller’s ex-wife – Moreno’s daughter – accused him of physically abusing her and their young daughter. Miller was reprimanded by the president but not asked to take the stage.
