President Donald Trump is demanding Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar’s immediate resignation from Congress, resurrecting long-standing allegations about the congresswoman’s identity and marriage after a Justice Department court filing mentioned the congresswoman by another name.
“It was just revealed that Ilhan Omar’s name is not Ilhan Omar,” Trump wrote on The Truth Society Thursday night, claiming the name she used when she won the election and was sworn in was fraudulent.
The president claims Omar’s name is actually “Ilhan Noor Said Elmi,” a name that appeared in a federal court filing related to an investigation into his immigration history.
Trump also reiterated unsubstantiated allegations that Omar is married to her brother, Ahmed Noor Said Elmi, which she has repeatedly denied.
“Because she was sworn in under a false name, I believe she must resign from Congress immediately,” Trump wrote.
He then addressed House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-Louisiana, claiming that Democrats had effectively abandoned Omar’s seat and declared that she could no longer legally serve in Congress.
Omar fired back at X on Friday.
The chairman of the Pedophilia Defense Party is purging right-wing conspiracy theories through the most corrupt Department of Justice in U.S. history.
Whenever the news turns bad, this monster looks for a name: Mine. So let’s make it crystal clear. My name has always been Ilhan Omar.

She accused the president of using the Justice Department to spread right-wing conspiracy theories and made a pointed reference to Vice President J.D. Vance, whose birth name was James Donald Bowman.
“Maybe you should focus on what your VP’s real name is,” Omar wrote.
Federal agents searched Omar’s Washington-area home earlier this month as part of an investigation into possible immigration fraud. Omar has not been charged with a crime, and being named by another name in court documents does not prove she committed fraud. In an interview with MSNOW, Omar expressed her frustration with this latest attack and mentioned that she and her family would be moving out of the home that was raided.

Trump’s request also has no independent legal effect. The Constitution gives the House of Representatives, not the president, the power to expel members, requiring a two-thirds vote.
The latest confrontation is a continuation of Trump’s years-long campaign against Omar, one of his most vocal critics in Congress.
