Trump slams Senate for ‘passing nothing…it’s just killing our country’

President Donald Trump criticized the Senate for “passing nothing,” adding that their inability to get the job done was “killing” America.

Taking questions from reporters, Trump was asked what his “priorities” are and what he hopes to accomplish in the coming months before the new Congress takes office.

According to Mediaite, Trump took questions from reporters after delivering a speech at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. According to the media report, Trump’s remarks came after the Senate “recessed on September 30 before the midterm elections on November 3.”

“Mr. President, we’re still a few months away from the inauguration of the new Congress, what are your priorities? What do you want to accomplish? What do you think you need to accomplish before they get involved?” a reporter asked.

“The Senate must take action,” Trump responded. “The Senate has passed nothing, and that’s killing our country. That means Democrats and Republicans have gotten nothing done.”

Trump went on to explain that “Democrats voted en masse,” adding that his administration could “write the best bill in the world for our country.”

“We can get the best bill in the world for our country. They vote en masse and we always have some Republicans who block,” Trump said, adding that he hoped Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-SD) would get the Senate to “take action.”

Trump added that the biggest problem was the “obstacle” in the Senate, explaining that “when you want the Senate to die, you give it to the Senate.”

Trump’s criticism of the Senate came after Democrats secured majorities in both chambers in the midterm elections.
