Matador dies after being thrown, trampled on at rodeo

An Ohio bull rider died after being bitten by a bull at a rodeo in Warren County Saturday night, police said.

Clear Creek Township police said 35-year-old Jason Blake Saylor suffered serious chest injuries when he was kicked or stepped on by an animal at Fox Hollow Stables near Waynesville, FOX19 reported.

Police told FOX19 Seiler was wearing chest protection when he was injured. Police and emergency personnel were called to the stables on Route 73 East around 7:41 p.m. on reports that a rider had been injured during Saturday night’s rodeo.

Medics treated Seiler at the scene and then transported him to Atrium Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead, police said. Fox Hollow Rodeo posted news of Seiler’s death on Facebook Sunday and asked the public to respect his family’s privacy.

“Our hearts are completely broken after the tragic passing of one of our bull riders and Christian brothers last night at the Fox Hollow Rodeo,” the rodeo performer said. “Words cannot express our sorrow. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and all those affected by this heartbreaking tragedy.”

Clear Creek Township police are investigating the accidental death.

The news sparked a flurry of reactions online, with some commenters criticizing the sport and others reacting to Seiler’s death.
