United Airlines set to open the largest airport lounge this week, which is said to be the largest in America, as the airline continues to plow money into facilities for high-opening customers.

A 54,000-square-foot lounge opened Thursday at George Bush Intercontinental Airport’s Terminal B in Houston, as part of a facility overhaul that includes 22 gates for major flights.

The airport, with more than 500 daily departures, is United’s main connecting hub for flights to and from Latin America.

The new club can accommodate 800 people and has an outdoor terrace for plane-spotting as well as two full-service bars and a buffet.

The lounge, part of United’s $2.6 billion investment in the airport’s Terminal B, shows how the airline is putting more money into bigger spaces for premium travel demand to attract elite frequent flyers, brand credit card holders and customers who just want to spend more to fly.
